ANNOUNCEMENT: QR Code Verification for CO (AIFTA & MICECA) and Exporter Declaration Service

ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Valued Customers,

CLARIFICATION QR CODE VERIFICATION FOR CO (AIFTA MICECA) AND EXPORTER DECLARATION SERVICE

MITI is aware that some Customs authorities are querying MITI CO FORM which can lead into rejecting Certificates of Origin (Form AI Form MICECA) due to QR code verification issues Please note:

  • QR Codes are NOT Mandatory: Under AIFTA and MICECA rules, digital verification is supplementary There is no legal requirement for a QR code to be scanned for a CO to be valid
  • Physical CO is Primary: A physical CO with an official stamp and ink signature is legally sufficient proof of origin
  • System Errors Do Not Invalidate: Technical glitches in digital portals do not void a lawfully issued physical document

ACTION PLAN FOR EXPORTERS

If your importer faces rejection based solely on a QR code issue:

1. Request Manual Verification: Instruct your importer to present the original physical CO for stamp/signature inspection

2. Cite FTA Rules: Inform Customs that digital verification is not a mandatory requirement under the OCP

3. Use Exporter Declaration: We highly recommend using the EXPORTER DECLARATION service via DagangNet ePCO to minimise queries from Indian Customs
